Jake comes to the Yakima Valley after covering TV news in stations across the nation. In Nebraska, Texas, Idaho and Utah he's covered everything from crime on the border, to tornadoes tearing through towns, to the small family farmers who struggle through tough economic times.
When he was in ninth grade, his English teacher, Mrs. Ronnow, made Jake promise he'd find a career where he could use his talents for writing and for talking with people.
He got his start in broadcast journalism in Brigham Young University. Before graduating Jake spent two years in Brazil as a religious missionary.
Before arriving here in the Valley, Jake anchored and executive produced a local news program in Kearney, Nebraska that won the Associated Press of the Great Plains award for Best Newscast.
When he's not at the station you can find Jake trying to find the best food at some of Yakima's restaurants or at the grocery store getting the ingredients to try a new recipe someone has shared with him.
Please don't hesitate to contact Jake as he would love to hear your story ideas!
