Oregon cross-country runner with cerebral palsy signs with Nike

EUGENE, Ore. (KVAL) - Nike surprised a University of Oregon cross-country runner with an endorsement contract.

"I'm still in shock that it happened," Justin Gallegos said. "You don't have to let your disability or physical impairment stop you."

Gallegos has cerebral palsy, a condition that affects muscle and motor function.

That didn't stop him from pursuing his dream of becoming a competitive runner.

At the conclusion of a race last weekend, Nike surprised him with a contract -- and captured the moment on video.

"There's been many moments along his story where he surprises us and these great things happen," Gallegos' father Brent said.

"You can do anything you put your mind to, it doesn't matter if you have a disability or not," his mother Tracy said. "Justin is living proof of that."
