SHERWOOD, Ore. (KATU) — A potentially armed and dangerous suspect who was being pursued by Washington County Sheriff's deputies Friday afternoon was shot and killed following an intense police chase.

The incident began around 1 p.m. at Roy Rogers and Scholls Ferry when deputies got a call about a suspicious vehicle in the area.

A Sherwood officer contacted the suspect at one point and shots were fired. No one was injured in that incident, but deputies called in a tactical team to assist.

Around 3 p.m. the suspect drove his pick-up truck onto a field. Eventually, the tactical team sent in a BearCat light-armored vehicle, which was used to ram the suspect's car several times.

The suspect attempted to get out of the car, and was shot and killed.

"This was a very fast-moving, changing and rapidly evolving situation involving our SWAT and the suspect," Jeff Talbot with Washington County Sheriff's Office said. "We’re going to be piecing together what happened, and that information will come out once we confirm it."

Major crimes officers and detectives are responding to scene. No officers were hurt.
