YPD investigating trio of armed robberies in one night

YAKIMA -- Yakima police are investigating three armed robberies that happened within less than 4 hours Wednesday night.

The first happened at about 7:30 pm at the Downtown Super Foods store at 316 South 3rd Street.

Police say a man entered the store pointed a gun at the cashier and demanded money before leaving on foot.

Officers and a police K-9 searched the area, but didn't find a suspect.

The second happened at about 9:45 pm at the Safeway on the corner of 5th Avenue and Lincoln Ave.

The cashier told police a similar story. That a man had entered the store, pointed a gun at the cashier, and demanded money before leaving on foot.

Officers again were unable to find a suspect.

A surveillance image taken of the armed robber at the 5th avenue location shows a man in black clothing with his face covered wearing white and blue gloves.

Then, at 11:05 pm, officer responded to reports of another armed robbery at the College Mart store at 1106 West Nob Hill Boulevard.

The cashier there also told police a man had walked inside, pointed a gun and demanded money. Then left on foot.
