Yakima Valley hops chosen for royal wedding brew
YAKIMA, Wash. - Hops from the Yakima Valley are making their way into a drink uniquely created to celebrate the royal wedding between Prince Harry and Meghan Markle.
Simcoe, a hops product from Yakima Chief- Hopunion (YCH Hops), was selected for the highly anticipated occasion, the company announced Thursday.
Windsor & Eton Brewery will be brewing the pale ale, called Harry & Meghan's Windsor Knot™.
Simcoe is the only American hop that was included in the beer, according to a YCH Hops press release.
The Simcoe hops used in this brew were grown and harvested in 2017 at Perrault Farms and processed at one of YCH's facilities in the Yakima Valley.
Leaders say YCH Hops, the largest American hop supplier out of the Pacific Northwest, is hosting an event on May 18 to celebrate the special edition beer.
