City seeking Christmas tree for downtown Yakima display
YAKIMA, Wash. - The city is seeking a Christmas tree to make downtown Yakima look a little more festive this holiday season.
The Downtown Association of Yakima (DAY) and the city are asking people to consider donating an evergreen tree from their property for folks to enjoy at Millennium Plaza.
Crews will remove the chosen tree by Monday, Nov. 19.
City leaders said the official tree lighting ceremony will conclude the annual Holiday Lighted Parade Sunday, Dec. 2. The parade starts at 6 p.m.
Those interested in nominating their tree can call Asst. to the City Manager Cally Price at 575-6040. DAY Operations Manager John O’Rourke says the tree they're looking for is preferably 15 to 25 feet tall.
More information on tree donation can be found here.
