Yakima County firefighters receive lot donation for new fire department
NACHES, Wash. -- The Yakima County Firefighters in Naches will now be able to build their new fire station after someone decided to give them a place to build.
Allan Brothers incorporated a local agricultural fruit company said they have seen the hard work the firefighters have done in their community and it just felt right to donate a lot that they were not using.
Fire Chief Alan Baird says they have no words to express how grateful they are for this donation.
“They really put back into the community and they’ve had over the generations, they’ve been there for a long time and we as a district and myself can’t thank them enough,” said Baird.
District 3 firefighters had been using an old market building as a fire station for over 50 years.
Baird says the new lot is four times bigger than the current one so they are hoping to start construction in the new lot, of course that’s if, voters approve the $1.8 million bond next week.
