City Council is considering an agreement with Transform Yakima Together that will give the homeless encampment, Camp Hope, an extension to operate each year from March 15 through Nov. 15 when it is scheduled to close.

Transform Yakima Together would store facilities and equipment at the site year round.

The council will also consider authorizing temporary emergency cold weather shelters from Nov. 15 through March 15 and allowing a faith-based shelter to operate at that time.

The meeting to discuss the two proposals is scheduled for October 17 at 6 p.m in the council chambers of Yakima City Hall. It can be streamed at the City of Yakima website and will air live on Charter Cable channel 194, Y-PAC.
