Winter Storm Warning issued for Yakima, Kittitas valleys
YAKIMA VALLEY, Wash. - The National Weather Service (NWS) has issued a Winter Storm Warning in effect until noon Friday.
Forecasters said heavy, wintry precipitation will likely occur possibly causing power outages and tree damage due to ice.
Travel will be dangerous.
Additional snow accumulations of up to one inch and ice accumulations of .10" to a half inch are expected.
The areas of concern include Yakima, Toppenish, Sunnyside, Naches, Thorp, Ellensburg, Tri-Cities, Prosser and Connel, according to a bulletin from NWS out of Pendleton.
Officials say to be prepared for significant reductions in visibility at times.
A Winter Storm Warning means significant amounts of snow, sleet or ice are occurring.
