Union Gap teachers picketing in front of school all week for better pay
UNION GAP, Wash.- School has already started but Union Gap teachers are picketing all this week in front of school for more money.
Union Gap is among many districts in the valley that are still negotiating with their teachers for new contracts.
Teacher Joshua Butrick said they district offered them a fraction of what other districts in the area are getting.
He said they agreed to keep teaching during negotiations to make sure their students don't miss a day of school.
“We're moving forward because we care about this community and yes, we've already started school and it's been a long process, but we're here for the fight,” Butrick said.
The district said both sides have agreed to mediation and are still waiting for their next negotiating session.
