Pickup hits, kills Union Gap man on State Route 22
NEAR MABTON, Wash. - A Union Gap man is dead after a pickup truck hit him while he was walking across the road.
Juan Infante-Martinez, 31, was walking at 6:08 a.m., January 1 when he tried to cross State Route 22 in front of a pickup truck, according to Washington State Patrol reports.
A 74-year-old Harrah man was driving the 2003 Chevy Silverado Pickup east on SR 22 when he collided with the pedestrian, ten miles west of Mabton.
Infante-Martinez died at the scene.
Detectives said the driver was not under the influence of drugs or alcohol at the time of the crash.
WSP is investigating this crash and the cause is under investigation.
