Two suspects caught on surveillance in general store armed robbery

YAKIMA, Wash. - Deputies in Yakima are looking for two suspects responsible for holding two at gunpoint and robbing a general store.

According to a news release from Yakima Sheriff's Office (YSO), two men wearing dark clothes and blue bandanas over their faces and entered the Ahtanum General Store, located at 8301 Ahtanum Road around 9:50 p.m., May 30.

Both suspects were carrying handguns. Officials said the store clerk and one customer were inside the store at the time of the robbery.

Reports said the suspects told the victims to get on the ground and demanded money from the register.

One suspect took cash from the register and kicked the clerk on his head and the other suspect then took the money and kicked the customer on the foot before leaving the store.

Both suspects left with an unknown amount of money and ran away on foot. Officers believe the suspects may have ran to a vehicle near the scene, but do not have a description of a vehicle.

Medics arrived and treated the two victims for minor injuries.

Sheriff's deputies say this robbery is similar to recent robberies reported in Yakima and Union Gap.

Witnesses said the suspects are possibly Hispanic. Anyone with information is asked to contact Yakima Sheriff's Office.
