Three injured in head-on car crash near Ellensburg
KITTITAS COUNTY, Wash. - Three people have been injured in a head-on car crash outside the City of Ellensburg, detectives say.
Kittitas County officials said Ryan Wrzesien, 20, of Ellensburg was driving a Honda Accord west on Vantage Highway near Naneum Road around 11:40 p.m., Monday, when a Dodge Caliber heading east crossed the center line and hit Wrzesien's car head-on.
Reports said Makayla Wright, 20, of Ellensburg, was driving the Dodge at the time of the incident. Wright was injured and taken to KVH Hospital for multiple broken bones and severe injuries, Kittitas County deputies said.
Kittitas Valley Fire and Rescue removed Wrzesien from his vehicle and medics airlifted him to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle for severe injuries. Authorities said his injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.
A 19-year-old passenger in Wrzesien's vehicle, Hunter Kipp, also from Ellensburg was treated at KVH for minor injuries and released, reports said.
Investigators say alcohol appears to be a factor in this crash. Law enforcement continues to investigate.
