Suspect in fatal Wapato shooting arrested in Montana
YAKIMA COUNTY, Wash. - A man who police say shot and killed a man in Wapato has been arrested in Montana.
According to reports, investigators found and arrested Jacob Ozuna in Hardin, MT while he was leaving a store, Saturday morning.
Ozuna was wanted in the fatal shooting of 35-year-old Dario Alvarado.
Reports from the Yakima County Sheriff's Office stated Ozuna pulled out a handgun and shot the victim in the area of the face during a party in Wapato. The suspect continued to shoot the victim multiple times.
Investigators said he was shot at least four times in the head and torso which killed him on the scene.
Alvarado leaves behind five kids and a family.
Alvarado's mother Norma Esqueda said catching her son's killer brings her family some comfort.
"I don't wish bad to nobody but I think justice is the right word for him and we're going to handle it one day at a time," Esqueda said. "We're a really really close family so we're gonna miss him but we'll see him one of these days, so that's not a problem, we'll all be together."
The sheriff's office said Ozuna is in jail in Big Horn County Montana and he will face a judge next week before being transported to Yakima County.
