Suncadia Lodge evacuated as fire breaks out
CLE ELUM, Wash. - An early morning fire has forced the evacuation of the Suncadia Lodge resort hotel near Cle Elum.
Multiple fire agencies joined the fight after flames and smoke were reported at the four-star luxury resort around 2:15 a.m. Monday.
"They're fighting it from both the interior and exterior of the lodge," says Kittitas Fire district 7 spokesperson Richelle Risdon. "I can see a lot of smoke coming from above the loading dock area. The guests needed to be evacuated."
The evacuees were taken to the Inn at Suncadia. No injuries were reported.
Risdon says the fire started in the attic above an office area within the lodge near the restaurant.
Firefighters conducted a room-to-room search of the 254-room lodge and found no one still inside after the evacuation.
The cause of the blaze is under investigation.
The lodge is part of the 6,300-acre Suncadia resort and planned community between Cle Elum and Roslyn.
