NEAR MOXEE, Wash. - A driver from Yakima has died Wednesday in a single semi rollover crash that blocked State Route 24 east of Moxee.

The Washington State Patrol (WSP) said the semi truck with a double trailer filled with apples was being driven by 58-year-old Magdaleno Santos when it rolled at the highway near milepost 16, 11 miles east of Moxee.

WSP Trooper Chris Thorson said Santos became trapped in the semi after it rolled. A report of the trapped driver was first called in around 1:17 p.m.

Thorson tells Action News no other vehicles were involved.

The Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) said both lanes were blocked in the area, and road was closed for nearly six hours. The crash caused apples to spill over the road.

WSDOT said all lanes reopened just before 7 p.m.

The WSP says Santos died at the scene of the crash.
