Richland picks neither finalist for police chief position
RICHLAND, Wash. - The city of Richland has announced Tuesday it will choose neither of the final two candidates up for the Chief of Police role.
According to a news release, the city began looking for candidates in April after Chief Chris Skinner took a position as the Eugene police chief in Oregon.
After an extensive recruitment process with hired firm Ralph Andersen & Associates, candidates were narrowed down to two hopefuls.
Yakima Police Chief Dominic Rizzi and Sunnyside Police Chief Albert "Al" Escalara were selected as the two finalists, the city announced in August.
In a statement, City Manager Cindy Reents confirms she did not find the right candidate to fill the position.
Reents said she released the remaining candidates and will reevaluate the candidate market in the future.
Reents says interim Chief Jeff Taylor will continue to serve as Chief of Police until further notice.
