Pregnant woman injured when trailer breaks, smashes into car
YAKIMA, Wash. - A pregnant woman is injured after a trailer broke from a truck and crashed into her car.
Officers with the Yakima Police Department (YPD) said a 27-year-old pregnant woman was driving the car at W. Washington near S. First Street when a trailer broke from off of a truck, smashing into the car on the driver's side.
Police responded around 1:30 p.m. Monday and medics took the victim to a local hospital. Responders said she sustained minor injuries in the wreck and the unborn baby was not harmed.
Yakima police said W. Washington Avenue is closed westbound just west of South First Street to the railroad tracks and the eastbound lanes have been reduced to one lane.
YPD officers said the truck driver was issued a ticket.
