Police: Woman jumps out of car claiming man is trying to kill her
TOPPENISH, Wash. - A Yakima man is accused of kidnapping his ex-girlfriend and threatening to kill her and her child Sunday morning.
According to the Toppenish Police Department Jose Anaya-Pulido, 25, was arrested after he went to the 300 block of Madison Avenue to find his ex-girlfriend.
Police say the woman was seen trying to run to safety when Anaya-Pulido caught her and forced her into his car and allegedly threatened to harm her if she didn’t leave with him.
Police later said he took the victim and witness’s phones away to prevent them from calling 911.
According to the Toppenish Police Dept. Anaya-Pulido then forced his ex-girlfriend into her car, told her to drive and threatened to kill her and her child.
On West 1st Street, only a few blocks away from the initial crime scene, police said the woman started honking as an officer was conducting a traffic stop.
She then jumped out of the driver’s seat and yelled that the man in her car was trying to kill her.
During the investigation, officers found a concealed handgun and handcuffs in Anaya-Pulido’s pocket.
He claimed he was a security guard who was currently off duty.
Anaya-Pulido was booked at the Yakima County Jail on charges of kidnapping, felony harassment, hit-and-run, assault and theft among other charges.
