Police: Two people shot in Toppenish

TOPPENISH, Wash. - Police are investigating a shooting after two people were hit by gunshots.

Yakama Nation and Toppenish Police responded to the shooting around 1:21 p.m., Tuesday near the Guyette Ave. and Rentshcler Lane intersection.

Officials tell Action News the two victims, a 30-year-old Native American man and a 32-year-old Native American man, were walking in the area when gunmen from a red or maroon passenger car shot at them.

Reports said the suspect vehicle also had dark tinted windows, a black bra on the hood and a fin on the trunk. A photo of the suspect vehicle is attached to this story.

One victim was struck in the leg and shoulder while the other's wounds are unknown. Toppenish police said both men were alert when medics treated them and took them to local hospitals.

Both victims' gunshot wounds are not believed to be life-threatening, according to police reports.

Investigators said one victim is registered under Yakama Nation while the other is not.

Toppenish police and Yakama Nation Tribal Police are investigating this case with the FBI. Police said one of the victims is a known gang member, but are unsure if this incident was gang-related.
