Police arrest Yakima man who shot himself in the leg
YAKIMA, Wash. - Police say a Yakima man is now facing charges after he accidentally shot himself in the leg and asked his friend to treat his gunshot wound, avoiding going to the hospital.
Once officers tracked 23-year-old Gabriel Chavez down, police said they found meth, heroin and multiple guns.
According to reports, Chavez was showing a gun to a friend Wednesday night when it accidentally went off.
Police said he went to another friend's house for treatment, and the person treating him called police right after.
They were able to track Chavez down to the AM PM on North 1st Street.
Chavez faces charges of unlawful possession of firearms and possession of meth.
