Outdoor burning banned in Yakima County
YAKIMA COUNTY, Wash. - Burning outdoors is prohibited in Yakima County due to poor air quality.
Stagnant weather conditions and a buildup of air pollution caused a burn ban, issued at 4 p.m., Friday.
The Yakima Regional Clean Air Agency said along with outdoor burning, the use of uncertified wood stoves, fireplaces, inserts and other uncertified solid fuel burning devices is not allowed under the Stage 1 ban.
Certified wood-burning devices are still allowed.
Anyone who violates the ban could face a civil fine, according to the YRCAA. Restrictions may differ within the exterior boundaries of the Yakama Reservation.
Updates regarding burn ban restrictions can be found at the Yakima Clean Air website.
