One dead in I-90 car rollover at Ellensburg

ELLENSBURG, Wash. - A Yakima woman is dead after her car flipped on westbound I-90 near Ellensburg.

Washington State Trooper Brian Moore stated the collision occurred at around 12:57 p.m. Tuesday after 54-year-old Desiree Sparling, of Yakima, drifted into the median and drove nearly a quarter mile before her car stuck a guardrail, causing it to roll and land upside-down at milepost 107.

WSP reports said she died at the scene.

The victim was driving a 2014 Mercedes GLK250 at the time of the crash. Moore said she was the only person in the car. A semi was hit with debris from the impact, but the driver was unharmed.

Reports said traffic was backed as responders closed an eastbound left lane to investigate the scene. Updates from the Department of Transportation said lanes reopened at 4:12 p.m. once roadways had been cleared.

Troopers are investigating to determine a cause in this crash.
