NWS: Snow storm to hit Kittitas Valley on Tuesday
ELLENSBURG, Wash. - A winter storm expected to hit the Ellensburg area has caused a winter weather advisory.
An update from the National Weather Service (NWS) of Pendleton announced the advisory Monday afternoon, and will be in effect from 7 a.m. until 10 p.m., Tuesday.
Snow is expected to accumulate in the eastern slopes of the cascades and in the Kittitas Valley, reaching two to four inches, and will likely turn into rain in the valley Tuesday night.
NWS officials said snow will continue Wednesday in areas above 2,500 feet.
The cities of Ellensburg and Thorp are areas affected in this advisory.
Weather leaders ask that drivers use caution as snowfall could reduce visibility and snow-covered roads could cause slippery roads during Tuesday commutes.
The latest road conditions can be obtained by calling 5-1-1.
