New Yakima County coroner working to get more efficient equipment
YAKIMA COUNTY, Wash. - Yakima County has a new coroner and he tells Action News he wants to get new equipment in the coroner's office that could save the county some money.
Yakima County Coroner Jim Curtice started his new position on Wednesday and says he has already seen quite a few cases.
Curtice said he is working on getting grants for the coroner's office.
He said that money could be used to buy equipment to run more efficiently.
One piece of equipment Curtice said he wants for the office is an x-ray machine.
He says right now they move the deceased back and forth to the hospital for x-rays, which costs the city money.
"[It] will definitely make the process easier and also over time save money for the county, I believe," Curtice said.
Curtice says he also wants the coroner's office to work more with organ donations.
