YAKIMA, Wash.--A new teen health clinic is open in Yakima to help young people get services for a variety of issues.
The clinic is now open inside Yakima Pediatrics on South 11th Avenue.
Teens and young adults can get a varitey of services including mental health treatment, sexual health concerns and others.
Lead physician Dr. Peter Asante says helping local teens, especially those struggling in school, was part of the reason for the clinic's development.
"I've spoken to a lot of people in the schools and the school district and one of the things that we continue to see is sort of an emphasis on mental health and how mental health is impacting teens ability to focus at school, learn and frankly to graduate," said Asante.
The teen clinic is open Wednesdays and Thursdays from 11:30 a.m. to 8 p.m.
And clinic leaders say same day appointments are available.
