YAKIMA, Wash.- Nearly one thousand people in Yakima gathered to honor the people who put their lives on the line for our country.
The Annual Stand Down and Veterans Benefit fair is an opportunity for other veterans and their families to get together and recognize and serve our veterans.
It's one of the biggest veteran events in our state.
More than 80 different services were at the fairgrounds handing out information and also providing services like flu shots.
Organizers say the overall goal is to to help one more veteran in need.
"We are a ways away from some of the bigger facilities, so our rural area coming together in a big way to make sure veterans and their families know what's available for them," said Veteran Stand Down Chair David Brown.
