Large brush fire blackens outbuilding near Moxee
NEAR MOXEE, Wash. - Firefighters are still mopping up a huge brush fire that blackened an out-house and cars near Moxee Wednesday afternoon.
The second alarm fire started near State Route 24 and Birchfield Road at around 1:30 p.m.
Firefighters from all over the upper valley worked to put it out and were able to save a nearby house for catching fire.
Fire Chief Mark Emery said they went to a second alarm right away to make sure the fire could be contained quickly.
"You want to jump pretty quick because if you need something and it's not available right now it's too late. There's no pausing button on the fire," he said.
Emery says no one was injured in the fire and the cause is still under investigation.
