Man brutally attacked in Yakima, rescued by Postal Worker
YAKIMA -- A man is in jail on accusations of assault after police say he attacked someone in downtown Yakima.
Police say it started when Aaron Reeves asked another man for a cigarette while standing on the sidewalk at 104 So. 2nd Street in Yakima.
Court documents describe that after the soon-to-be victim gave Reeves the cigarette, Reeves asked if he was "all-white". The man told Reeves he was from Ireland, and Reeves then asked Kemper if he was AB (Aryan Brotherhood).
When the man said "What?" police say Reeves began attacking him, punching him repeatedly and throwing him into a large plate glass window, causing deep cuts.
Police say Reeves continued to attack, breaking the victim's leg and beating him while he was on the ground.
YPD says a USPS employee stepped in to try to protect the victim. Police say Reeves then ran into the road and tried force his way into a passing car.
The poster worker chased Reeves, tackling him, and struggling with him until police arrived.
Officers took Reeves to the hospital to be medically cleared, and while being wheeled out they say he kicked a doctor in the chest.
Police say Reeves has 8 felony and 11 misdemeanor convictions on his record.
