Locals play Pokemon Go and collect canned goods for food bank
YAKIMA, Wash. -- A group of locals came together today to collect food for the needy, all while playing a popular app on their phone.
The gathering is called Yakima Community Days and today, people gathered at Sarg Hubbard Park to play Pokemon Go, and to collect canned goods for Northwest Harvest.
Every month, the group selects a charity to donate to, and this time around, they say they wanted to help put a meal on the table for those struggling to do so.
“Just a good way to do something good, while doing something we love. Help out anyone we can. Help out having a meal a day for a kid that can’t afford it, parents can’t afford it, or a family that’s scraping down really low and can’t make it can afford a meal for their kids,” said Fernando Amador, Jr.
They say they don’ have plans yet on which charity they will donate to next month.
