Local women knitting hats and blankets for premature babies
YAKIMA, Wash. - Some women are doing some good in Yakima by knitting tiny hats and blankets for local premature babies.
The ladies said they plan to get together at the Harman Center (101 N. 65th Ave.) every other Wednesday, to knit and crochet smaller hats and blankets for preemies in the NICU at Virginia Mason Memorial hospital.
The group has only met twice so far, but they've already made 23 hats and hope to make over 150 to donate to the hospital.
Sharon Reed and Kitty Quinn said they got a group of their friends together because they enjoy knitting and thought they could do it for a good cause.
"Anything you can give of yourself to somebody in the area you live, it just makes it a better place to be," said Quinn.
The women say all are welcome to their next knitting session on Wednesday February 6 at the Harman Center, from 9 to 11 in the morning.
