Kittitas County health providers offer free flu shots

KITTITAS COUNTY, Wash.- Local health providers gave out free flu shots today, and you didn't even have step outside your car.

Five health organizations in Kittitas County were at the fairgrounds offering drive-thru influenza shots. It's not just to keep the community healthy, this gives health experts practice for the possibility of a disease outbreak.

"Having a fever that high is awfully uncomfortable and its not something that we want to experience. So if i can get a vaccine to prevent that and prevent being sick then we would recommend that as well. There are fatalities related to influenza and so we definitely want to prevent that," said Casey Knutson who is a Health Promotions Supervisor.

Health experts say getting vaccinated is the best way to prevent getting the flu. The centers for disease control recommends that everyone over the age of six months get a flu shot every year.
