Heritage University inducts new president
TOPPENISH, Wash. - Heritage University officially welcomed its third president Friday.
Doctor Andrew Sund joined the university in July 2017.
He said he is honored to be a part of a university that works to make higher education accessible to everyone and he appreciates the community's support.
"I'm just proud to be part of a large community that believes in education, supports Heritage," he said. "I know that together, we're gonna make it a much stronger and vital institution."
Sund came with his family to the valley from Chicago. There he was the president of St. Augustine College for nine years and previously the Dean of Workforce and Community Education at Olive Harvey College.
He said Heritage is heading in the right direction but he wants to work to grow the institution further.
"We will continue to be an institution that believes that every individual that enters the organization can succeed if they're offered the right support," he said. "They can all earn a college degree."
Sund said he wants to expand programs the university offers and maybe even add a doctoral program.
