Gang member faces assault charges in August shooting
YAKIMA, Wash. -- A man who police say is responsible for shooting another man in August, faces first-degree assault charges Thursday.
According to reports, 21-year-old Santana Rocha was one of two people who fired multiple shots into the SUV of a man and his girlfriend in Toppenish.
It happened near E. 1st Avenue, in the driveway of the victim's home.
The man was hit by two bullets.
Reports say Rocha turned himself into police, and the victims were able to identify him as the shooter from photos.
Police say the shooting is gang-related, as Rocha is believed to be a Sureno gang member and the male victim has possible ties to the Norteno gang.
Rocha's bail has been set at $125,000.
