Free block watch classes running every second Monday of every month
YAKIMA, Wa. -- The Yakima Police Department is working to make the city a safer place to live.
YPD is offering block watch classes where people have the opportunity to network with police officers, learn how to start their own block watch in their neighborhood and much more.
YPD Community Services Officer Nikki Sandino says it’s important for people to take advantage of these free classes so you can learn how to look out for your neighborhood.
“With crime prevention, obviously we need the assistance of our community members because they’re eyes and ears they know what’s going on in their neighborhood and what should or shouldn’t be going on in their neighborhoods,” said Sandino.
The classes will continue every second Monday of every month until the end of the year.
The classes are offered in English and Spanish across the street from YPD’s main station.
