ELLENSBURG, Wash. - Ellensburg's city council now has an open spot for someone to fill.
The city announced councilmember Jill Scheffer resigned Wednesday night effective immediately.
Leaders said Scheffer recently took a position with the Washington State Department of Ecology in a role that includes overseeing the city's compliance with its state issued stormwater discharge permit. Scheffer decided to step down to avoid conflict issues in her new role.
Scheffer says it has been a pleasure to serve the people of Ellensburg since 2010.
The city is encouraging people interested in applying to fill Scheffer's vacancy to fill out the application form available here.
