Dozens of locals spruce up the city
YAKIMA, Wash.- You may have seen them walking around in the Yakima commuinty. Dozens of locals volunteered this morning to help clean up the community.
For four hours this morning along N 4th St and N Front St, volunteers were picking up trash on sidewalks and neighborhoods to spruce up the city.
Volunteers also drove pick up trucks through the neighborhoods collecting unwanted items.
Organizers say these cleanups are a way to involve the community in reducing the number of illegal dumps in the city of Yakima.
The city's Refuse Division held a community cleanup earlier this year which resulted in the removal of 20 tons of garbage.
