Convicted murderer to stay in Yakima County

YAKIMA COUNTY, Wash.-- A convicted murderer trying to get a reduced prison sentence will remain in Yakima County. Yakima County prosecutors wanted to have Joel Ramos transferred to a corrections facility near Spokane. Ramos wants out of Yakima County as well, but the judge shot down that idea today.

A hearing in August will cover the arguments for reducing his life sentence. Sentencing is scheduled for September.
