City of Ellensburg announces new police chief

ELLENSBURG, Wash. - The Ellensburg Police Department is getting a new police chief.

Ken Wade will become the City of Ellensburg's new Chief of Police, City Manager John Akers announced Friday.

According to a press release, Wade is an Ellensburg native with 29 years of working in law enforcement. City leaders said he has most recently worked as the Police Administrative Captain in Ellensburg.

He has also served with the Kittitas County Sheriff's Office and the Washington State Patrol as a trooper, then was later promoted to sergeant and lieutenant.

“I was first introduced to police work through my uncles, Don Morrison and Wayne Chandler, who both were officers of the Ellensburg Police Department," Captain Wade said.

Wade is set to take the position once an extensive background check is completed.
