City council to discuss furthering plaza plans and advisory vote at Tuesday meeting
YAKIMA, Wash. -- On Tuesday, city council will meet to vote on plans for the plaza.
They say they'll vote on adopting a preliminary design of the plaza and finalizing construction plans, including construction cost estimates and starting the construction bidding process.
City Spokesperson Randy Beehler says the council will also discuss putting the Downtown Central Plaza on the November ballot.
“The ordinance that would allow the city to move forward with getting construction bids and plans, that simply gives us the opportunity to be ready in case the vote, if there is a vote, turns out in the positive then there wouldn’t be a further delay in starting the plaza," said Beehler.
Up for discussion, specifically, will be the language of the ballot on the advisory vote, regarding building the plaza in the proposed parking lot, west of the Capitol Theatre.
The city council will meet at City Hall at 6:00 P.M.
