City council approves new park near SOZO Sports

YAKIMA, Wash. - Yakima City Council has voted to approve a new park near SOZO Sports Complex to accommodate a yet-to-be built indoor aquatics center at Chesterly Park.

Councilmembers voted at a meeting, Tuesday, to authorize the park and recreation lease to SOZO Sports of Central Washington. Under this decision, SOZO would maintain the new park at the sports complex.

The 32 acres immediately adjacent to SOZO is a city agreement with the Washington Recreation Conservation Office to replace land that will be the location of an aquatics center at Chesterley Park.
