KENNEWICK, Wash. - A second Benton County resident has died from the flu.
The 80 year-old woman is the second reported flu death in Benton County since the first of this year.
Dr. Amy Person, Health Officer for Benton and Franklin Counties is emphasizing that flu activity is increasing and that it is not too late to get the flu vaccine.
“Twenty people died from the flu last year in our area,” said Dr. Person. “Flu activity is picking up, but there is still time to get a flu shot.”
According to the Washington State Department of Health flu prevention tips include washing your hands often, avoid touching your face, cover your cough and stay home when you’re sick.
