Bean feed in Wapato to raise money for local cancer patients
WAPATO, Wash. - A local high school is inviting the public to eat beans in an effort to raise money for local cancer patients.
Students are hosting the annual Wapato High School Bean Feed, Friday, to raise funds for the North Star Lodge Cancer Care Center in Yakima.
This event marks the 61st year it will be held, raising nearly $160,000 for those suffering from cancer.
Beans will be served from 4:30 until 7 p.m. at the Wapato High School Commons Area, according to a news release from the Wapato School District.
The bean feed will not be the only event at the school. The Wapato Wolves are also hosting the Ellensburg Bulldogs in basketball Friday evening. Girls Varsity tips off at 5:45 p.m. and the Boys at 7:15 p.m. District leaders said it's also Senior Night and Alumni Night.
Kids and students get in for three dollars while adults get in for five dollars.
