Apartment fire leads to $70,000 of damage

YAKIMA, Wash. - An apartment went up in flames early Sunday morning in Yakima.

The apartment located on the 400 block of N 6th street broke out into fire Sunday morning around 2:30 am.

According to responding units the stairwell of the apartment was on fire making it difficult for firefighters to get up.

There was a man located on the second floor who ended up jumping out of the building firefighters say.

He was then taken to Harborview for burns to his airways.

Units say nine people are safe but there is $70,000 worth of damage and the building is inhabitable.
