NACHES, Wash. -- Two men are dead after their truck veered off Highway 12 and into the Naches River Saturday evening.
Washington State Patrol (WSP) identified the victims as Prosser resident and driver James Wildman, 23, and Dylan Bolt, 25, also from Prosser.
Fire officials said several agencies responded to the scene at Highway 12 and Allan Road just before 6 p.m.
Fire officials said no one witnessed the accident but another driver noticed tire marks leading to the riverbank and called authorities when they saw a submerged 2002 gray Toyota Tundra. Officials said they don't know how long the truck was in the river.
“When I arrived you couldn’t tell if there was someone in the vehicle or not so I called for a swift water rescue,” said Captain Don Swanson of the Naches Fire Department. “Once the team got here we found two people in the vehicle and extricated them both. Unfortunately both of them were deceased.”
Fire officials said it took rescue crews about an hour to retrieve the victims.
WSP is still investigating the cause of the crash.
