14th District candidates discuss how each will serve the community
YAKIMA, Wash. – Gina Mosbrucker and Liz Hallock are going head-to-head for the State Represenative seat in the 14th District House of Representatives.
Mosbrucker is running for re-election.
She's already served two terms.
And Hallock is new to Yakima politics, but she is a local business owner.
KIMA sat down with the two of them and asked them the first issue they'd like to tackle, if either of them win.
“We’re working on teen suicide, very concerned about that. I think we’ve got some great legislation other states are willing to share. We’re trading legislation between the states, and I think that’s really an area we’re gonna focus on. Also, domestic violence,” said Mosbrucker.
“I’d like to address the way our schools are funded. Right now, they’re funded through a fluctuating property tax system, and I’d like them to be funded through a capital gains system that doesn’t tax the middle and lower classes so much,” said Hallock.
