1 dead, 2 critically injured after crash near Columbia River HS in Vancouver
VANCOUVER, Wash. – A driver died and two other people are in critical condition after a crash near Columbia River High School on Tuesday morning, the Clark County Sheriff's Office said.
The crash happened just after 10 a.m. when a student pulled out of the school’s parking lot in a Subaru directly in front of someone driving a VW Jetta westbound on NW 99th Street.
The driver of the Jetta was pronounced dead at the scene.
A passenger inside the Jetta was taken to the hospital with potentially life-threatening injuries.
The student was also taken to the hospital with serious injuries; he or she is expected to survive.
"major crash traffic unit is on scene right now, and they'll be conducting an investigation to try to determine exactly what happened that led to the two vehicles colliding in the intersection," said Sheriff's Sgt. Fred Neiman.
Deputies said there’s no indication that drugs or alcohol were involved in the crash.
Investigators are withholding the names of those involved until family members have been contacted.
This is a developing story, updates will be posted.
