Davis High School students building bird houses for upcoming event
YAKIMA, Wash. -- Davis High School wood technology students are putting the finishing touches on their latest project.
The class is building 60 bird houses to display during the "Celebrate Our Youth" breakfast at the end of the month.
The apple-shaped houses will act as center pieces during the event.
The breakfast is one of the main fundraisers for the Yakima Schools Foundation.
The foundation enhances programs in the Yakima School District, and helps support extra-curricular classes like wood technology.
"The thing I love about this class is that it's hands on. I love just cutting wood, I like the smell of wood, I love doing what I do and its just an honor to be here," student Oman Hernandez Luna said.
After the event, the bird houses will be sold for donations to support the foundation.
