Ellensburg Takes the CWAC Football Crown Again
ELLENSBURG, Wa - The Ellensburg Bulldogs captured its fourth consecutive CWAC football crown with a dominating 48-0 win over the Othello Huskies at Andreotti Field on Thursday night.
Mason Sherwood rushed for 216 yards on 35 carries and four touchdowns with all four scores coming in the first 16 minutes of the game.
On Ellensburg's opening drive, Sherwood completed a long drive with a 2 yard touchdown to give the Bulldogs a 7-0 lead.
On the ensuing kickoff Ellensburg was called for an illegal touch giving Othello the ball near the Bulldogs 40 yard line; but on the next play the Huskies went for a touchdown but the pass was intercepted at the 3 yard line by Jason Lee.
Ellensburg then marched 97 yards with the drive ending with a 6 yard touchdown run by Sherwood to make it 14-0.
After a defensive stop the Bulldogs offense picked up where they left off and Sherwood scored again late in the first quarter to give Ellensburg a commanding 21-0 lead.
On the Bulldogs opening drive of the second quarter they once again moved down the field and Sherwood's fourth touchdown of the night gave Ellensburg a 28-0 lead and would add another score to take a 34-0 halftime lead.
Ellensburg (9-0 CWAC, 9-1 Overall) will most likely host a first round playoff game next weekend with the opponent, date and time to be determined.
