Pepper Continues Family Legacy
SELAH, Wa - Ryan Pepper is hallowed in the Central Washington Hall of Fame, now his son is adding more spice to the family legacy.
Elijah Pepper, Selah's sophomore basketball star is at the the top of the CWAC in scoring and has led the Vikings to an 8-1 start on the season.
His game is complete and watched closely by his father, Ryan, who's stepped aside from officiating high school games for a couple of years so he can watch his son play.
"I'm definitely excited, I'm having fun," Ryan Pepper said. "I'm trying to get a little better at watching, but it's alright, working on it."
More than twenty years ago all eyes were on Ryan when he played at Central Washington; during the 1994-95 season he set school records with 898 points scored, 95 three-pointers made and minutes played, averaging 38.3 minutes per game.
Ryan also made ten three-point shots in one game, also a school record and he followed his successful career at Central by playing professionally in Australia.
The question now is will Elijah follow in his father's footsteps?
There is a lot of comparisons, lot of likenesses, everybody's their different person you know, might be a little better than I was at that age, we'll see (but) I'm having fun," Ryan said.
